Swine flu returns to India and is rapidly spreading across South India. Andhra Pradesh reported two Swine Flu deaths in last 3 days while Kerala reported 18 swine flu deaths and 200 cases in last 1 month. Swine Fu is also rampant in Karnataka and Maharashtra also. Mumbai also reported 50 swine flu cases and 4 deaths in this season. Monsoon atmosphere is also helping for spread of Swine Flu virus in Southern India. In India, first swine Flu case was reported on May 13, 2009 at Hyderabad Airport. It claimed 1650 lives in India. This season, it already claimed 30 lives mostly from Kerala. Swine flu in Andhra Pradesh: 1. Appanna was died of Swine Flu in Vasakhapatnam city. 30-year old railway employee recently went to Annavaram, pilgrimage centre in East Godavari district. He was admitted to a private hospital in Vizag on June 14 and was diagnosed as a positive case on June 17. Another woman died of Swine Flu in Hyderabad 3 days back. 2. 2 positive cases in Hyderabad: One case was reported in Chest Hospital while the other case was reported from Gandhi hospital. Doctor and her husband returned from Singapore with Swine Fu symptoms and are now undergoing treatment in Hyderabad. Cadila healthcare already released Swine Flu vaccine in India while Serum Institute may release intra-nasal vaccine in 1 week. So, no need to panic but take proper precautions especially when you are in crowded places. Swine Flu resurgence
A fresh wave of swine flu was reported across the country with one person from Maharashtra succumbing to swine flu, today. With this death, the total number of people who have lost their lives due to this disease has risen to 444 with Karnataka as the most affected, recording 15 cases, Delhi 13 cases, Maharashtra ten and Kerala five. The total number of people affected by swine flu has reached more than 13, 000 and 49 cases reported during today alone. As of now, more than 70 thousand people have been tested for swine flu of which an alarming 18 percent have been found to be positive. This has been the report even as a none month old baby and a eighty year old woman admitted with swine flu died on Saturday in Maval taluka. 49 fresh cases of swine flu have been reported from across the country, according to official sources. Due to the sudden spurt of fresh swine flu epidemic in the city, the Sawai Gandharva Music Festival scheduled to be held in the city in December has been postponed. Significantly, this is the first time, in the history of the festival that it has been postponed. Although the festival will be held in the first week of December, the preparation for it starts almost six months earlier. This festival will be the place where about 35 artists from all over India will perform their best. Since it is the congregation of a large number of people, in the wake of the revival of swine flu, the organizers, after discussion with the District magistrate and Commissioner of the city, decided not to take any risk and hence announced the postponement of the festival. September 1: Swine Flu cases update
Swine Flu is now in full swing across the country while deaths are reported from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat and Rajasthan. Number of Indians died from Swine Flu is now reached to 103. Swine FLu is still confined to urban areas. If Swine Flu spreads to small towns and rural areas, Government may find it difficult to control this disease due to poor health care standards in many parts of country. India reported first Swine Flu case in May and first Swine Flu death on August 3rd. More than 100 people died in less than 30 days. Mortality from Swine Flu in India is 25 per 1,000 cases while it is 2-6 per 1,000 cases in developed nations. That is really an unfortunate thing. Worst affected Maharashtra accounted for 54 deaths off which 32 deaths occurred in Pune. More than 1650 positive cases are reported in Maharashtra alone. Rajasthan reported first Swine Flu death which may adversely impact this tourism dependant state. Bangalore reported another death which takes total deaths in Karnataka to 27. Total confirmed cases in Karnataka are now at 485 which is the worst affected state after Maharashtra. Gujarat reported another death which took total number of Swine Flu deaths in Gujarat to 9. H1N1 denotes Swine Flu while H5N1 denotes meningitis. But, viral meningitis rarely causes deaths unlike Bacterial meningitis. But, bacteria are not responsible for Swine Flu. Swine Flu cases: 1.
